I have traveled a very diverse road in my training philosophy and been exposed to many different methods. I have been lucky enough to train with and take seminars from some of the top trainers and behaviorists in the country. Today this has evolved into an athletic and positive approach with my canine athletes. I enjoy preparing the 'complete' canine athlete. This includes nutrition, health, conditioning, and training. I also treat each dog as an individual and like to work to find the pieces to make that dog the best it can be. Currently my dogs eat a grain free diet, mostly raw food of different proteins. Occasionally they get a meal of high quality grain free kibble. The difference in my dogs' health and performance is truly amazing. Every 6 weeks my dogs visit their Holistic Veterinarian. They receive regular chiropractor adjustments and acupuncture as needed. We follow the recommended holistic protocol on vaccinations with titer testing. I keep my dogs on a strict conditioning schedule. This includes sprints, long distance runs, swimming, core work, doggie yoga, plus whatever else I can come up with to keep them in top shape. "Not everyone can wear the same size pants!" That sentence pretty much sums up my thoughts on training. My dogs are trained with positive and motivational methods. Since I train many different breeds and mixes I am big on letting puppies be puppies and they will tell me when its time to move forward. Age means nothing. I have had dogs take the competition world by storm at 1 year and have another not close to being ready at 2 years. In the end what is important is a happy healthy dog that wants to work and will enthusiastically do so. My drive for the perfect sport dog has opened another new door for me, hybrid sport dogs. A hybrid sport dog is a crossbred produced specifically for sports. After purchasing several hybrids and waiting for years on other puppy lists that never came, I decided to do my own hybrid mix. My first litter, a cross between a Border Collie and a Jack Russell Terrier arrived in the fall of 2007. These pups have excelled far greater than I could have imagined. Raising a puppy and placing it with its compliment human partner to produce an outstanding athletic team is truly inspiring. My dogs are my life, they are my family. They are what define me. They are my passion….. |
